Species

The playable species are listed below. Of course, many other species also thrive in this system beyond those mentioned here.

Aarakocra

Aarakocra coexist with the other sentient species of Gopra and strive to defend its pristine wildernesses from outside influences and threats as part of the One Tribe (though there are many of their kind who would prefer to return to the older ways before unification). Many have struck out on their own, plying the skies to find their own destiny.

Aasimar

Aasimar found here are usually working with the Celestials to keep the evil forces at bay and protect and guide the still-forming god Khal. Others have gone their own way.

Air Genasi

Like other genasi, air genasi are descended from the genies of the Elemental planes. They are rare but have no common society among themselves, doing what they can to survive and even, at times, flourish. Many become successful merchants, traders, and power brokers, using their neutrality to their advantage to serve as intermediaries between others.

Astral Elves

Astral elves generally work to ensure the Elven Empire rules as much of the cosmos as possible (some do it because they just think it is for the best of the multiverse; others seek pure power and domination over others). Occasionally an Astral Elf will disassociate itself with the Empire, voluntarily or otherwise.

Autognomes

Autognomes were built by gnomes. Some were separated from their creators due to a malfunction or other circumstance and become independent. Many call the moon known as The Heap home.

Bugbears

Bubgears coexist with the other sentient species of Gopra and strive to defend its pristine wildernesses from outside influences and threats as part of the One Tribe (though there are many of their kind who would prefer to return to the older ways before unification). Many have struck out on their own, plying the skies to find their own destiny. Many find themselves working as pirates and bounty-hunters.

Centaurs

Centaurs coexist with the other sentient species of Gopra and strive to defend its pristine wildernesses from outside influences and threats as part of the One Tribe (though there are many of their kind who would prefer to return to the older ways before unification). Many have struck out on their own, plying the skies to find their own destiny.

Changelings

Because of their ability to change shape, Changelings are distrusted. They are hunted and executed whenever found. The paranoid Elven Empire pays large bounties for their capture. (It is claimed they actually try and turn their captive changelings into spies for their own purposes. Those who resist are studied in the hopes the elves can learn how to simulate their abilities and then killed.)

Deep Gnomes

Deep Gnomes live deep within the dwarven world of Zrom, often engaging in conflict with their surface-dwelling cousins. Many have begun to launch themselves into space on stone vessels, seeking new worlds to settle and mine. They often cooperate with duergar.

Duergar

Dragonborn

Dragonborn(and dragons) are believed to hail from a world hidden from outside observers, from which their ancestors were either exiled or willingly left. This planet, Drogol, is lost to legend and myth, some even claiming it never really existed and that dragonkind come from some other mysterious origin.

Dwarves

Dwarves (and gnomes) are heavily represented in the spacefaring populations, often hired to build outposts, ships, and the like. Many grow very rich, becoming merchant barons. They share a homeworld with the gnomes called Zrom.

Earth Genasi

Earth genasi, like others types of genasi, are descended from the genies of the Elemental planes. They are rare but have no common society among themselves, doing what they can to survive and even, at times, flourish. Many become successful merchants, traders, and power brokers, using their neutrality to their advantage to serve as intermediaries between others.

Eladrin

Many Eladrin call Fheya home, often fighting against the Elven Empire’s occupation of their world (even though they are also elves, Eladrin identify more with the wild, free nature of the Fey than the Empire’s cold, rigid ways. Others hail from places outside the Driftspace, such as the Feywild or other Prime systems.

Elves

Elves control an Empire that seeks to claim control (and bring their own draconian brand of peace) to Driftspace. Their seat of power is on the planet of Fheya.

Fairies

Many fairies call Fheya home, often fighting against the Elven Empire’s occupation of their world. Others hail from places outside the Driftspace, such as the Feywild or other Prime systems.

Feral Tieflings

Feral tieflings are a variant of more common tieflings, often found in the wilds and settlements of Gopra and Fheya.

Firbolgs

Firbolgs and Goliaths are found on many worlds with untouched wildernesses where giants roam, particularly Gopra and Fheya.

Fire Genasi

Fire Genasi, like other genasi, are descended from the genies of the Elemental planes. They are rare but have no common society among themselves, doing what they can to survive and even, at times, flourish. Fire Genasi often feel a kinship with fiery Khal and work to protect it.

Giff

Some of the hippopotamus-like giff come from an outside system, having arrived here on the backs of spelljammers or via interdimensional travel. Others originate from Gopra, where they often cooperate with other sentient species there to defend its pristine wildernesses from outside influences and threats as part of the One Tribe.

Githyanki

Most are pirates and raiders, pillaging settlements and vessels before returning to the Astral plane with their spoils. Others work to hunt down the mind flayers or githzerai who hide here. Some have struck out on their own.

Githzerai

Githzerai originate from outside the system and are very rare here in Driftspace. Many seek out refuge on asteroids and other remote spots, where they keep away from the conflicts and dealings of others. Others, however, find themselves drawn into the ongoing saga that unfolds in the system, or just seeks to survive or find their own place. Some work to hunt down the mind flayers or githzerai who operate here.

Goblins

Many goblins call Fheya home, often fighting against the Elven Empire’s occupation of their world. Others hail from places outside Driftspace, such as the Feywild or other Prime systems.

Goliaths

Goliaths and Firbolgs are found on many worlds with untouched wildernesses where giants roam.

Gnomes

Gnomes (and dwarves) are heavily represented in the spacefaring populations, often hired to build outposts, ships, and the like. They share a homeworld with the dwarves called Zrom. While dwarven society is generally more mercantile and utilitarian as a society, gnomes tend to be more interested in science, technology, craftsmanship and exploration.

Hadozee

Hadozee originate from an outside system, having come here on the backs of spelljammers or via interdimensional travel.

Half-Elves

Half-elves are, as is sadly so often the case, shunned by most. The elves see them as inferior, and humans view them with distrust thanks to their harsh dealings with the Elven Empire. They have no home world, often falling to lawlessness to survive. When a human and elf mate the child is always half-elven, but the next generation usually returns to either a dominantly elven or human heritage.

Half-Orcs

Half-orcs are somewhat common on Arlos, as the world is host to a relatively peacefully mixed society of orc and human. Being themselves sterile, each half-orc has both a human and an orcish parent. They can generally be found anywhere orcs are humans are, including various settlements and ships everywhere.

Halflings

Halflings, called “the Worldless” because they have no known home planet, are ubiquitous throughout the system, often appearing in crews and on cosmopolitan planets. Many bounce from location to location, driven by an insatiable wanderlust and appetite for adventure and experience.

Harengon

Many harengon call Fheya home, often fighting against the Elven Empire’s occupation of their world. Others hail from places outside the Driftspace, such as the Feywild or other Prime systems.

Hobgoblins

Many hobgoblins call Fheya home, often fighting against the Elven Empire’s occupation of their world. Others hail from places outside the Driftspace, such as the Feywild or other Prime systems. Hobgoblins have a highly structured, militaristic society, rich in arts and culture. Their kings and nights often serve as protectors of Fheya. Some break or fall from this tradition, becoming criminals, beggars, pirates, bounty hunters and mercenaries.


Humans

Humans are ubiquitous throughout the system, often appearing in crews and on cosmopolitan planets. They are native to Arlos, sharing the same basic existence as orcs, mixing freely and living in relative peace. The necrotic moon Chiconus is slowly falling toward their world’s surface, threatening imminent catastrophe.

Kalashtar

Kalashtar originate from outside the system and are very rare here in Driftspace. Their affinity for dreams often brings them in contact with spelljammers who use dreams to fuel their engines — either as friend or foe, depending on how those dreams are harvested and used.

Kenku

Kenku can be found throughout the Drift, often working independently on the shadier side of the law, serving as bounty hunters, thieves and assassins. Many, though, walk a more noble path.

Kobolds

Kobolds can be found throughout the Drift, often working independently on the shadier side of the law, serving as bounty hunters, thieves and assassins. Many, though, walk a more noble path. They are said to have descended from dragonkind and thus their distant origins may lie in the legendary world of Drogol.


Leonin

Lineages

Lineages (Dhampir, Hexblood and Reborn) are can be found anywhere in the system, most in league with the Undead Empire. Many originate from the cursed planet of Hexis.

Shadar-Kai originate from outside the system (primarily the Shadowfell) and are very rare here in Driftspace. Some serve the Elven Empire, some work as bounty-hunters or mercenaries, and others walk their own unique paths.

Shifters

Tieflings are relatively common throughout this system. Fiendish ruins dot its worlds, hinting at some past occupation by extraplanar forces. It is believed this system once served as a battleground in the eternal Blood War between devils and demons, but has since drifted far enough to be spared and abandoned. Still, many entities linger from those times, as well as their descendants the tieflings and aasimar.
